Based in Fetakgomo Tubatse local municipality, Mmilong Management and Services Enterprises (MMSE) is a black-owned Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise (SMME), which supplies materials handling equipment for crushing and dust suppression at our Booysendal site.

MMSE started with only three machines and eight employees, but expansion into crushing and dust suppression resulted in an increase to 22 employees and new contracts with other customers. This strong growth is thanks, in part, to Northam’s inclusive and supportive procurement policies, and its commitment to developing and sustaining local entrepreneurs. MMSE has taken part in Northam’s ESD programme to improve business processes, while developing the mine/supplier relationship and continuing to service the mine’s needs.

Throughout our relationship, MMSE and Northam have worked together to overcome challenges. For example, Northam introduced a new materials-handling system, RopeCon®, which is an ore conveyor suited to rugged terrain.
